Krista Throw - completed

Krista Throw - completed!

25 balls of wool, thousands of trebles, doubles and chain stitches, too many hours and cramped fingers.... I have finished, and it's really rather gorgeous!  (Just another spare hour or so needed to weave in the loose ends!)

So pleased!

Krista Throw - Blocks Together

So, I've sewn all the blocks together - still looks pretty raw, but gives a fantastic idea of what the finished throw will be.  Lots of extra thread to sew in, and then to start the border....it may be some time....

Krista Throw - extra block - Granny Heart

An extra block - Granny Heart

The heart is crocheted separately from the block itself, then sewn on...a useful technique to get a block that is different...learned how to do a picot edge!

And this block has an extra row added to the edge, so after the dc edge which is standard, I have added a lacey edge of dc, 2 ch, skip 1 dc, dc etc.... In the corner 1 dc 2ch 1dc into the corner dc.

This may make the joining of the blocks easier, but tie will tell.

Onwards...

Krista Throw - Blocks 23, 24, 25

I have finished the last three blocks of the original throw.

Yay!!!

This first one was particularly tricky for me...

But, the pattern states the size of each square to be approx. 22cm...mine are only about 15 - 17cm each, so my throw is going to be a little small.

So I have found Kristabook, which has all the patterns of the original 25 in much more detail, it has the border with the gorgeous scalloped edge, and has another 12 or so blocks, so the finished throw is 36 squares (6 x 6) rather than only 25!  Sounds perfect!

Krista Throw - Blocks 11 - 22

I've had a rush of blood to the fingers and with a bit of bad weather over the long weekend, PROGRESS!!!

So most have been pretty straight forward in this lot - I can get one square in little over an episode of 'Criminal Minds'!  The ones with the flowers have proved challenging - I haven't quite got to the point where I a throwing the crochet hook across the room, but there was a bit of undoing and re-doing.

Loving the challenge (as you see)!

The beauty of sampler quilts, or knits or anything like this, is the variety, mixing up the easy with the difficult, knowing you only have to do each block once.  And learning something new in nearly every block.

Block 10   Basketweave caused me a few issues - found a Youtube video and re-started 3 ties until I 'got it'.

Continuing to track well - and still loving the challenge.  It is going to look AMAZING!

Crochet Fun - Krista Throw Rug

Procrasti-crochet - what you do when you should be making dolls but lack the inspiration...

Just started a sampler crochet throw - Krista's Throw, a block of the week crochet project that Spotlight had a few years back.

I can do basic crochet, and this is really testing me - Youtube is my friend! It's great to get the brain working.

So I have six done and ???? more to go.

I am using Debbie Bliss merino wool - so beautiful to use and feels so beautiful.

No 5 crochet hook, squares are approx. 7 inches/17cm.  The pattern suggests 6.5 crochet hook, finished size 22cm.  I will go for smaller size and more squares.

The Krista pattern has 25 squares in total, so I will be adding extra squares, maybe repeats, not sure....

Yay, feeling inspired, and the brain is getting a good workout - aiming for a square a day! hoping for 5 per week!
